How is Marico contributing towards sustainability?

Being 'Green' has always been an integral part of Marico's culture. Our people, processes and products imbibe it. Our "Think Fresh, Be Green" initiative has spread environmental awareness amongst our members and business associates. From the initial steps like conserving paper, power and water resources, we are integrating our "green philosophy" into our core organization processes, to make this a sustainable journey. Our light-weight bottle packaging makes it more eco-friendly. Our key suppliers are connected through an in-house e-portal, making networking more efficient and cost-effective. Regular energy audits conducted at our factories help us tap potential opportunities to reduce consumption. Our members are encouraged to use on-line conferencing to reduce travel costs and e-dairies to save paper. Our green initiatives have not just won us awards and accolades, but have also helped us to reduce the carbon footprint and improve our bottom line.

In 2011-12, Marico started its journey towards sustainability reporting and is currently putting a Sustainability Management Framework in place. This will help the Company to collate sustainability information in a sustained manner. The Company has engaged CII as a knowledge partner for preparing the Sustainability report and setting up a Sustainability Management Framework.

Marico today touches the lives of 1 out of every 3 Indians. Marico sells over 7.5 crore packs every month to around 7.5 crore households through about 4.6 million retail outlets services by its nationwide distribution network comprising 4 Regional Offices, 32 carrying & forwarding agents (CFAs) and about 5000 distributors and stockists.
